"Like 'man’s best friend,' the wolf gets most of his information through his nose. Identifiable scents far outnumber identifiable sights and sounds. On a cold winter day, the air is carrying a constant flow of data.  Whether these molecular messages relate to a partner, a prey or an enemy, we do not know.   But the wolf knows."
