"The arctic summer is a time of brightness and life. I have been lucky enough to be there several times in breeding season. Birds are abundant and are busy courting and defending their territories. One of the fiercest defenders is the arctic tern. I have been the unintentional offender many times and have been the victim of repeated diving attacks, some of which hit their target - my head."
