"Stealthy, elegant and sometimes dangerous, the cougar has suffered from persecution. Humans do not like competition. The simplest way to resolve this conflict is to ensure large areas of wilderness are set aside. The cougar would then be free to roam without fear of man's encroachment and its inevitable consequences. I have shown the mother and young here to symbolize the harmony and continuity of generations; a continuity which man has the power to ensure."
