"This house was in a little French-speaking community just north of my cottage. Time has stood still for the old farm couple. They told me they didn't really care much about what was happening in the world beyond their rural confines. In fact, they laughed about not knowing what day it was.

The centrepiece of their kitchen was an old cast-iron stove. It caught the reflection of the sun and gleamed. It has never failed them, working as well in the eighties as it had when it was first fired up in the twenties."
