Golden Eagle Art Gallery is pleased to offer an extensive collection of world-renowned artworks by Canadian wildlife artist, Robert Bateman. World-travelled and well versed, Bateman always tells a great story about each of his creations. Here is what he has to say about this piece:
"We live on a charming small lake cupped at the base of surrounding mountains. Lily pads fringe the shoreline and the lake provides sanctuary to many species of birds from wood duck to Virginia rail. Our small dock offers a vantage point similar to an airport observation tower, and we can quickly observe the landings and take-offs of the various species of waterfowl.
With spring runoff, the lake floods the surrounding farm fields so we are able to explore by canoe on two to three times the normal area. Of course, the ubiquitous mallard is a mainstay which seems appropriate. We spotted this pair posing in this peaceful scene."
