"Ducks are among the best known and best loved birds. The Mallard is front and centre the epitome of his tribe. Mallards are truly a symbol of our wetlands.

I tried to capture a memorable but fleeting moment.  This Vancouver mallard has just finished preening, and he's spreading his perfect plumage, thrusting out his chest in a pose of health, vigor and pride. I hope that our wetlands will have a future of health and vigor and that they will be thought of with pride - not as wastelands - now and in the future."
