"Seeking other subjects to paint, I was drawn to an old filling station nestled among the pines. Originally called Duke's Garage, this became one of my favourite works. The old-fashioned gas pumps, elegant car and personages of the period are echoed in my other painting, "Line Pine". Displayed at the Buckhorn Wildlife Festival near Peterbrorough, Ontario in 1983, it started me on the many nostalgic themes that have characterised my work since then."
