"Leaves dappled with sunlight on a beautiful May morning inspired me to work on this painting. A little girl returns from an early morning walk with her dog and stops for a cool drink at an old well. Her grandfather appears as a vision to pump water out of the well for his favourite granddaughter. There was fresh dew on the grass and the humid air hung like a canopy over the trees. Spring was, indeed, bursting out all over … a welcome respite from the cold. A time to discover the blossoms of the season for the little girl and her dog."
